Russell “Russ” Vane currently works for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s National Risk Management Center within the Department of Homeland Security. Vane and future planning team mates study and assess a range of topics that include risks to Census2020 (electronic), data integration and interoperability, expert elicitation, acquisition processes, and applications of algorithms to support governance.
His research interests include strategic planning, hypergame theory applications, AI/ML, and human-machine symbiosis. Vane holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from George Mason University, MS in Computer and Information Science (Penn), and BS in Mechanics and Materials Science (Johns Hopkins). He is a candidate in the 2019 US Army War College class for a Master of Strategic Studies.
