Josh Rice

Josh Rice is the Global Managing Director for Amazon Web Services Worldwide Public Sector Technical Sales Team.  The global technical sales team consists of Technical Business Development Managers, Specialty Sales, and Solution Architects across AWS Compute, Storage, Database, Analytics, AI & Machine Learning, Security, IoT, Edge and Managed Service businesses. Rice is responsible for driving the end-to-end business, sales and go-to-market strategy and product leadership for each of these service areas for the WWPS business.  In addition, he manages field readiness for these service areas with the AWS field sales organization.

Prior to his current role, Rice previously was the WW Head of Business Development for Amazon Web Services AI & Machine Learning Business.  AI & Machine Learning includes Amazon Web Services Deep Learning Machine Learning platform, Sagemaker and AI Services including Transcribe, Translate, Textract, Rekognition, Comprehend, Forecast, Personalize, Lex, Polly, Deep Lens and Deepracer.

Prior to his time with Amazon, Rice spent almost 18 years with Microsoft, most recently as the Vice President for Microsoft’s Worldwide End User Computing Business.  The End User Computing business included Microsoft’s Office 365, Enterprise Mobility & Security, Windows and Surface products.  Through earlier roles, Rice served as the CTO and Chief Operating officer for both the US Enterprise Business, and Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Sector organization.  He also held the role of Cloud Strategy & Innovation for WWPS. In that role, he was responsible for showcasing the amazing innovation from Microsoft and their large partner network and the impact technology is having on Public Sector Customers around the world. Rice joined Microsoft in 2001 as a Senior Technology Strategist and has also been Incubation Sales Manager for USPS.

Before joining Microsoft, Rice was with IBM Global services, supporting IBM/Lotus Customers. Rice began his career as a Project Manager and Architect with the Diageo Corporation; managing a wide array of ICT projects in the US and Asia Pacific focused on providing core communication, collaboration and ERP services across Diageo’s facilities around the world.
