John Larson is a Senior Vice President within Booz Allen’s Strategic Innovation Group. In this capacity, he leads strategy, business development and delivery of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities into both Civilian Government and Commercial accounts. He also leads the firms AI Partnership strategy working with large and small technology leaders at the intersection of AI to help drive innovation. He is a passionate advocate for harnessing the power of Human Centric Artificial Intelligence to create impactful solutions that overcome the most pressing challenges of today and tomorrow.
For more than 20 years, Larson has been a champion and early adopter of advanced analytic solutions within the Federal Government and commercial industry covering an array of sectors including: automotive, retail, energy and natural resources, chemicals and refined products, transportation, healthcare, and social welfare and pension programs. He has helped develop innovative solutions for his clients and transformed them into powerful data driven organizations. At Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, for example, he pioneered algorithmic fraud detection for fiscal intermediaries and at the Social Security Administration, he brought intelligent application optimization technique to use data and analytics to reshape the disability insurance program processes to speed entitlement and reduce error. In the commercial sector, Larson led the development of an intelligent optimization approach to dynamically inform automotive OEMs sales incentive structures based on near-real time inventory movement of key competitors. He also developed machine learning assets optimization algorithms to integrate real-time AIS feeds with economic indicators and port traffic volumes to transform the way larger maritime operators deployed vessels to optimize returns in the volatile dry-bulk and liquids spot markets.
Prior to joining Booz Allen, Larson led advanced analytics initiatives and drove enterprise-wide innovation at IHS Markit creating artificial intelligence and machine learning enabled products and consulting solutions in the oil and gas, automotive, and maritime industries for global Fortune 500 commercial entities and national governments. He is a recognized expert in analytic techniques such as machine learning, predictive modeling, Bayesian networks, natural language processing, and classification trees and clustering.
Larson holds a double B.A. in economics and history, and a master’s degree in public policy, both from The College of William and Mary.
